LOCKS OF LOVE

Saturday, July 11, Robert Lee (Bob) Shearer had the 10 inches needed to donate his “locks” to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Jenn, a stylist at Precision Hair Salon in Newark, Delaware performed this “delicate” procedure.

Reviews from Taxi:

Ride To Live:

"The live feel, road house vibe ( complete with the hog exhaust) are certainly in character with the narrative.. deep vocal timbre, resonance recalls the classic " Big John".. good transition as this switches gears in the arrangement..."

Well put together narrative here, Robert... sense of drama, .. verse set up and chorus idea are cohesive.. Rock edge, live feel, rhythm section is a plus. Your vocals and lyrics have genuine, ' lived in',

feel. "

Straight ahead rock/blues arrangements,'call and answer' between the lead vocal and lead guitar"

"Your songs have a heartfelt feel and tone to them, Robert. The determined emotion of the vocals helps to flesh out the characters that inhabit these words. The rock based arrangement wrap around these songs and bring in there tones with a solid use of classic sensibilities."

"The deep rumble of the vocals is a good counterpoint for the searing guitar riffs that ramble through the track, Robert. The chord patterns offer lots of support for the rhythm."

Little Children:

"Well thought out lyric.. Introspective, topical..chord progression is fluid, somber..

soulful lead guitar, Tender Clapton esque blues/rock/pop blend here. Touching story,

"Mommy hardly's ever home', etc.. good song.. the child's perspective is evocative.. good writing.. very sweet song"

Money and Tears:

"The opening verse, the vignette, touching situation..somber synth bed, dark chording reflect the theme.. nice job here..'

Hey Fever:

"This is very unique and has a great sense of humor in story line! You've written a very clever story and the vocal sings it like a storyteller which is very cool...The spoken word Verse melody gives this song a strong mood & attitude - nice phrasing in those sections! The CH has good lift in vocal range and I like how that section opens up in phrasing - features the hook really well!"

"This story is very well told and very humorous! You are clever in they way you word and describe this malady! Your rhyme pattern and phrasing is very strong and gives the song a very catchy cadence in wording!"

###

Stems and Seeds:

"intriguing...a reference I've not heard in a long time..He reveals a lot about himself, we see his entire life unravel...very visual imagery....hook melody strong."

And regarding the upcoming tunes on the next CD:

Cruisin:

"Thanks for sending your song to us! This has a really cool mood and vibe! I like the melodic movement in the verse sections. Lyrically the story is very unique and you use some vivid imagery to paint this scene. The verse melody has nice melodic movement and phrasing - strong rhyme pattern in those sections! I like the sentiment and mood of the song a lot! Best of luck to you"

"The story is very vivid in imagery - you paint a colorful picture of this day!"

###

Tattoo Blues:

"This is perhaps the most emotional...live sound, ambient drums, etc suit the tune...reminds me of some of the great solo work by Mark Knopfler"

###

Footprints:

"Hi Robert, thanks for the opportunity to listen to your music and share some of my thoughts with you. Cool playing on this one, the guitar adds a lot of nuance to your music. Chorus contrasts nicely with the verse, and provides an effective hook. Musicianship is solid here, the guitar playing is confident and adds to the melody. Structure has good contrast. Vocal performance has style. Bio has good information about your professional achievements, and a nice bit of humor as well!"
